Krampus - The Strange Review of The Strange Movie
Hello everyone! It frequently turns out that way for students: they want to rest at a random moment. And that is exactly what happened to me during the last month of remote studying due to pandemic. So, I found the way to pay someone to write my research paper and used that free time to watch a couple movies.
Among them, there was the mystery Christmas film with a short and identifying title: Krampus. To say in advance, I don’t think the movie was an outstanding and exciting experience. On the other hand, I can’t call it a complete failure for sure.
Plot
According to the plot, relatives arrive at the house of a regular American family on Christmas Eve. After that, something bad happens. After a family quarrel, one of the kids gets angry and decides to stop standing for longstanding traditions. The child refuses to celebrate Christmas together with close ones. The consequences of that move will obviously be very and very sad.
Genre
The genre defined for the Krampus movie on the Internet made me confused. In particular, that feeling made me watch it. I can’t argue it to be a horror film. There are some fantasy elements in it, too. But come on, comedy...? Who could find anything comic throughout the entire screenplay?
Along with that, the age restrictions are set quite reasonably in my mind. Traditionally, many perceive Christmas movies about wizardry and magic as something playful and naive. In turn, Krampus is not a picture for kids.
Actors
The acting looked quite doubtful to me. Despite that the cast suited their roles and characters, they failed to create an immersive atmosphere and environment. Family kids looked like marionettes or zombies just walking around the house and reacting to everything with that stone face. Grandma, the main heroine, was not better than them. I definitely would like to have such nerves of steel. Of course, it’s not the first time for granny to pass through that kind of nightmare, but her calmness is still impressive.
Scenery
In addition to “cardboard” characters, the screenplay itself had multiple inconveniences in it. Why does the family take the bag with someone else’s gifts to the house? Why do parents react so strangely to what happens to their daughter? Why was the villain unable to break into the house at once?
Such failures, misunderstandings, and misconnections between different parts of the storyline are frequent in Krampus. The strangest one of them remained a mystery to me even after the film was over: is it possible to defeat the real, dark and ancient evil with usual weapons like pistols and heavy sticks?
To Conclude
So, the film has multiple points to fix, process and edit. Why did I decide to ask someone to write my paper for me and to watch Krampus instead?
At first, the idea was something to capture me. Krampus has never been too popular among filmmakers, and this fact made his way of thinking and behavior ever more interesting to perceive.
Second, this movie is spectacular. The intriguing start, the story not completely predictable, and the entire involving, immersive atmosphere of the holiday made it worth for me.
I wouldn’t say Krampus is a one-time movie. At least, it is not disposable for me at the moment. Coming back to it in some months or years will be interesting. Maybe, I’ll watch it again someday before Christmas to understand the sense of the story deeper.
To finalize, I can recommend watching Krampus at least once. It will be especially fitting for those who want to add some scary mystery to their lives.
